What is a Formulary?
A Formulary is a collection of tools, processes, training, and methodologies that have been put together for the express purpose of resolving a set of medical conditions.
A Formulary allows for tracking and outcomes analysis on a summary and case-by-case basis. It is not a SKU list or ordering list from a vendor.

How does the AHS Formulary work?
The AHS Formulary includes tools and training for Assessment, Prevention, Treatment, and Documentation of wounds.
- Assessment – Assessment is a process of gathering and documenting information. AHS’ Assessment combines and utilizes current industry standards, including, the Braden Scale, results from VP1000 testing - Ankle Brachial Index (ABI), Tissue Tolerance Testing, and Baseline Admission Assessment.
- Prevention – Prevention is an important part of the AHS Formulary and applies both to patients with existing wounds as well as those patients at risk but who do not yet have areas of breakdown. The AHS Formulary will assist providers in identifying high risk patients / residents and taking steps to alleviate those risks.
- Treatment – AHS Formulary for Wound healing combines standard treatments with new tools and technologies such as AHS Silver Solution and PEMF to speed wound healing processes.
- Documentation – Documentation both by measurement and photograph is a critical component of the AHS formulary. AHS has created a vehicle that makes it easy both to track and report wound progress and outcomes.
- Education and Training – Every AHS Facility implementation includes onsite staff and medical provider training. An AHS representative will be present to train multiple shifts of nurses and aides in the AHS Formulary and its treatment protocols.
